The start of the war
No one wanted war. But, when Germany attacked Poland on September 1,
1939, other European countries felt they had to act to stop German. The result was six
long years of World War II. Since 1933, Germany had been ruled by Adolf Hitler and his political party the Nazis. They wanted to take revenge for Germany’s defeat in the Great War by expanding Germany’s empire. Many people have wondered why Germany was allowed to take over both Austria and Czechoslovakia without a fight. The simple reason is that Great Britain and France did not want to repeat the bloodshed of World War 1.They believed it had turn out wrong the first time and now they thought they could avoid another world war by letting Hitler have a little bit of a reward in hopes of him stopping his terms of violence.
